An interview with crime author Pauline Rowson on Ex Pats Radio

Pauline Rowson - AuthorIn an interview on Expats Radio Pauline Rowson, author of the popular DI Andy Horton series of Solent based marine mysteries, reveals her thoughts about the publishing industry, getting published, authors advances and the rise of e books.

Talking to Peter Anstis, Pauline Rowson reveals how the publishing industry has changed in recent years and how it is continuing to go through a seismic shift with the growth of e books. She also discusses how the rise of e books sales are affecting authors and how it is more important now more than ever before that authors need to market themselves in order to be found amongst the thousands of books published every year.

The author of ten crime novels, eight in the DI Horton series and two stand alone thrillers, Rowson's first crime novel was published in 2006. Before then she had written and had published twelve marketing and communication books and had run her own successful marketing and training company . Her crime novels are published by Severn House both in the UK and the USA and have been translated into several languages including Chinese where the Horton series is to be published in 2013.

Pauline Rowson says, 'Publishers are constantly monitoring the market and having to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Authors too need to adapt in order to succeed.'

Expats Radio was started in 2005 and provides a resource for people already living or contemplating moving abroad with information on finance and law as well as news stories, music programmes, gardening, cookery, horoscopes, lifestyle and entertainment and book news.

Rowson's latest book Death Lies Beneath, the eighth in the DI Horton series, was published in  hardcover by Severn House in the UK in July and in the USA in November. It is also available as an e book on Kindle, Nook and Kobo. The ninth DI Andy Horton, Undercurrent will be published in the UK in January 2013.
