A sell out audience for crime author Pauline Rowson

Pauline Rowson entertaining the audience at Southampton U3aOver a hundred and fifty people packed the hall in Southampton on 1 April to hear crime author Pauline Rowson talk about the writing process and her popular DI Andy Horton crime series set on the South Coast of England.

Pauline Rowson entertained  members of Southampton U3A with the exploits of her rugged and flawed detective, and talked about the inspiration behind the series which is published in the UK and USA by Severn House and which has been translated into several languages.

She spoke about how she plots and researches her police procedural crime novels and gave a reading from The Suffocating Sea, number three in the Horton series, before taking a number of questions from the floor.

Shroud of Evil, the eleventh of the DI Andy Horton crime novels was published in the the UK and Commonwealth this month in hardcover, and will be published in the USA in August, when it will also be released as an ebook.

Pauline Rowson  has been hailed as "redefining the genre of the police procedural” by setting it against the atmospheric backdrop of the ever changing sea in the Solent area of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Her cops are tough yet fallible.

With eleven in the series, the DI Andy Horton series of crime novels has been acclaimed as having all the ingredients of a riveting read: compelling crimes, complex past history, a tough work environment, romantic entanglements and political intrigue played out against the dramatic and powerfully evocative British marine landscape of Portsmouth and the Solent.

An accomplished speaker, Pauline Rowson, gives talks to many audiences throughout the UK. Her next appearance is at CrimeFest in Bristol on 16 May when she will be chairing a panel of crime authors.

She will also be giving a talk at Bognor Regis Library on 20 May.
