Pauline Rowson wows Wordwrights with words of writing wisdom


Pauline Rowson talking about crime writing to Wordwrights Writing GroupCrime author, Pauline Rowson was at Titchfield Community Centre in Hampshire on Thursday 20 July wowing local writing group, Wordwrights, with words of writing wisdom.

Wordwrights is a friendly creative writing group based in the Hampshire village of Titchfield. Members range from beginners through to published writers working in all genres including short stories, articles, poetry, play writing and novels. The group meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 1.30 p.m to 3.30 p.m in the Community Centre, Titchfield.


Pauline Rowson explaining a point on crime writingPauline Rowson is the author of eighteen crime novels, thirteen featuring the rugged and flawed Portsmouth detective DI Andy Horton, three in the new series featuring Art Marvik, the troubled former Royal Marine Commando now an undercover investigator for the UK's National Intelligence Marine Squad (NIMS) and two standalone thrillers, the award winning, In Cold Daylight and In For the Kill.


She has been hailed as "redefining the genre of the police dramaā€¯ by setting it against the atmospheric backdrop of the ever changing sea."  Her crime novels have been highly acclaimed and translated into several languages.  Multi layered and complex, they contain compelling crimes, diverse characters and are full of twists and turns all played out against the dramatic and powerfully evocative British marine landscape of the south coast of England.

Lost Voyage an Art Marvik thrillerHer eighteenth crime novel, Lost Voyage, the third in the Art Marvik mystery series,  was published by Severn House on 10 July 2017.

Pauline Rowson explained to the writing group how she plots and researches her crime novels, how she creates and develops her characters. There was ample time for questions from the audience.

Pauline Rowson is a member of the Crime Writers' Association and the Society of Authors.  Before becoming a full time writer she was a renowned marketing and training guru, with a collection of 'how to' business books and a successful marketing, media and training career behind her.

They are also available for loan in UK and USA libraries.
