Pauline Rowson entertains Southbourne Literary Society with tales of murder, mystery and mayhem

Pauline Rowson talking to members of Southbourne Literary Society On 18 September I was delighted to give a talk about my crime novels to Southbourne Literary Society, near Bournemouth in Dorset.

The Southbourne Literary Society was founded in 1946 by William Edward Palser, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. It meets on the third Wednesday of each month from September to April and has a very interesting programme of speakers.

The annual subscription is £20 and anyone interested in joining can contact the secretary Phil Vivian on phil.vivian@btopenworld.com

Pauline Rowson talking about her crime novels to Southbourne Literary Society My talk kicked off their 2013/2014 programme. I talked about the inspiration behind the DI Andy Horton novels and my thrillers, In Cold Daylight and In For The Kill and explained how from a basic idea I build up the plot and develop characters.  I discussed how long it takes me to write a novel, where I get my ideas from, and how I see the DI Andy Horton series developing along with my aim to create another new entertaining series of crime novels.

Pauline Rowson talking about crime writing at Southbourne Literary Society The audience were very friendly, asked lots of questions and made me feel extremely welcome.  It was a pleasure to be asked to speak at their September meeting.

"Thank you so much for giving such a wonderful talk to Southbourne Literary Society on Wednesday night. I cannot think of anyone who could have got the first meeting  of our 68th season off to such a great start.

"Your presentation was just the right mix of personal background and 'how to' (the latter being of particular use to our visitors from writers' circles, some of whom had travelled in from Ringwood, a good 10 miles away).

"Your humour, enthusiasm and polished speaking style were greatly appreciated.Speaking to members afterwards, they were particularly struck by your perseverance to get published and your incredibly organised approach to your work." Nick Thomas,Southbourne Literary Society
