Fire drill adds spice to talk about crime writing, murder and DI Andy Horton series

Pauline Rowson talking to members of New Forest U3A about crime writingIt was a great turn out at the New Forest and Waterside U3A at Dibden Purlieu on 4 March where I gave a talk about crime writing and the inspiration behind the DI Andy Horton crime series  and my thrillers.

It's one of the talks I won't forget in a hurry because just  as it was about to begin there was a fire drill. Everyone proceeded in an orderly fashion out of the fire exits into the car park where we were all duly ticked off the attendance list. My husband, Bob, a former fire fighter on Red Watch, Southsea, was on hand to make sure all was in order and that it passed his critical fire fighter's eye.

The Suffocating Sea- DI Andy Horton by Pauline RowsonAfter my talk and before question time I decided to read a passage from The Suffocating Sea - DI Andy Horton number 3 - where Andy is trapped in a burning Church vestry, very apt I thought.
