Fascinated by forensics? CSI Portsmouth 2016 with crime authors and crime experts


CSI Portsmouth where crime fiction meets crime factCSI Portsmouth where crime fiction meets crime fact is this year being held on Saturday 5 March. It is a great one day event both informative and entertaining with crime authors and crime experts taking part in two panel debates.

I am appearing on the morning panel, which I am also moderating, with fellow crime author, Elly Griffiths, author of the series featuring forensic archaeologist Dr Ruth Galloway.  Joining us will be Simon Mound, a crime scene investigator with Hampshire Police‚Äôs Scientific Services Department with expertise in the recovery of firearms and the examination of firearm related crime scenes, and Jonathan Smith, a forensic scientist with expertise in the examination of blood and body fluids, hairs, fibres, botany and wood fragment identification and adviser to many UK Police forces. 

The Hampshire Police Fingerprint Bureau will also be present and there will be a mock up crime scene provided by students on the Forensic Science Course at South Downs College   The Hayling Island Bookshop will also be present.

In the afternoon Will Sutton, a musician, playwright an author of historical mysteries in Victorian London who quiz crime author and crime expert Diana Bretherick, a former criminal barrister and now a lecturer in criminology and criminal justice at the University of Portsmouth and crime author J. S Law, a former Royal Navy officer.

CSI Portsmouth 2016 is being held at the, Pyramids Centre, Southsea 10am - 4pm (doors open at 9.45am).

Tickets are £15.00 for the day, which includes £3.00 off a book bought at the event. Tickets available from the Box Office on 023 9268 8037 from any Portsmouth Library or you can book on line

CSI Portsmouth was first launched in 2010 and is organized by  Pauline Rowson, author of the DI Andy Horton series of crime novels and the Art Marvik marine based crime novels. and Portsmouth City Council Library Service. It is part of Portsmouth BookFest a festival of popular literature which takes place from 14 February 2016 to 5 March 2016.
