What's on in February 2018

Lethal Waves, an Inspector Andy Horton crime novel by Pauline RowsonFebruary sees the publication in paperback of the Inspector Andy Horton crime novel, LETHAL WAVES, number 13 in the series. It is already published as an ebook and on Amazon Kindle and on Kobo and in hardback. Lethal Waves has received some lovely reviews.

"Nothing in this police procedural is as it first appears. The Harley Davidson–riding, boat-dwelling Horton is a fascinating man to get to know, and his thoughtful approach to detection is a pleasure to read." Publishers Weekly

"This heart-breaking story of ambition, greed, jealousy, and revenge makes a good choice for fans of no-nonsense British procedurals." Booklist

In Lethal Waves, DI Andy Horton’s meal with his old friend, Inspector John Guilbert of the States of Guernsey Police, is cut short when a woman is found dead in her cabin on the ferry from Portsmouth to Guernsey. There doesn’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances. It's not Horton's case. But as soon as Horton returns to Portsmouth he's called in to investigate the death of a vagrant found lying partially covered under a rotting houseboat. This time, it’s clearly murder. Troubled by the many unanswered questions surrounding both deaths, Horton must call upon all his skills and intuition to solve a complex case, uncovering dark secrets that have led to such lethal waves of destruction.

Available from all good bookshops and on line, and of course also on loan from public libraries.

South coast crime comes to Portsmouth

Also in February I'm delighted to be taking part in an event with revered crime author, Peter James.

Crime authors Peter James and Pauline RowsonI will be interviewing Peter James and discussing crime fiction at Portsmouth BookFest 2018 at the Eldon Building, the University of Portsmouth on 22 February 2018.

I have been involved with Portsmouth BookFest since its inception and masterminded the popular CSI Portsmouth panel events for six years.

Peter James’ Roy Grace detective novels have sold over 18 million copies worldwide and have repeatedly topped the Sunday Times bestseller charts. Peter, an established film producer, has produced numerous films, including 'The Merchant of Venice', starring Al Pacino.   He has twice been Chair of the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) and has won many literary awards, including the publicly voted ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards People’s Bestseller Dagger and in 2016 the Crime Writers' Association Diamond Dagger Award to mark sustained excellence and significant contributions to crime writing.

Portsmouth BookFestPortsmouth BookFest is a festival of popular literature organised by Portsmouth Central Library on behalf of Portsmouth City Council. The books are provided by the Hayling Island Bookshop.

The event takes place at 1 Eldon Building, University of Portsmouth between 7pm and 9pm. Tickets cost £7 which includes a £2 discount off the price of a book bought at the event. They can be purchased from 11th January online or in person at any Portsmouth City Council Library.
