Bello to sponsor CSI Portsmouth 2013

Bello - bringing lost classics back to lifeBello is to sponsor this year’s CSI Portsmouth event, taking place on Saturday 2 November 2013 at the National Museumof the Royal Navy in Portsmouth’sHistoric Dockyard.  

An imprint of PanMacmillan that brings lost classics back to life, Bello publishes a huge amount of classic crime books, making them perfectly placed to sponsor the event inits fourth year.

Pauline RowsonCSI Portsmouth was first launched in 2010 and is the brainchild of crime author Pauline Rowson who organises the event with Portsmouth City Council Library Service and The Hayling Island Bookshop. Part of Portsmouth BookFest, CSI Portsmouth is now one of the major fixtures in the UK crime fiction festival calendar.

Founded in 2011, Bello is Pan Macmillan’s digital imprint. In its first two years, Bello has published more than 550 previously out-of-print titles from over 40 authors whose collective work spans the twentieth century and beyond. Bello’s primary format is ebook, but each title is also released as a print-on-demand paperback, available through all bookshops offering POD, or direct to the reader through the Pan Macmillan website.

Over fifty percent of Bello’s published titles are in the crime genre. Ranging from Golden Age mysteries and short stories, to thrillers,cozy crime and detective fiction, Bello’s extensive list covers the history of the genre, including two founding members of the Crime Writers’ Association, Andrew Garve and Josephine Bell, the early novels of popular children’s authorNina Bawden, the creator of the ‘inverted mystery’, Roy Vickers, and the bestsellingAnn Cleeves, creator of the Vera and Shetland series, who appeared at CSI Portsmouth 2012.

CSI Portsmouth - where crime fiction meets crime factTaking part in CSIPortsmouth 2013 are crime authors S. J Bolton, Natasha Cooper, M.R. Hall, Kerry Wilkinson and Pauline Rowson with crime experts Michael Ellis, Drugs Intelligence Officer, Hampshire Police; Forensic toxicologist Dr Alex Allan, co-founder of Triple A Forensics and consultant with Manlove Forensics; Sergeant Tony Birr of Hampshire Police Marine Unit; Brian Chappell MBE, a former Detective Chief Inspector with the Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard and now a senior lecturer at the Institute ofCriminal Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth. Hampshire Police Fingerprint Bureau and the Dog Support Unit will also be present.

CSI Portsmouth 2012Tickets for CSI Portsmouth cost £15 for the day which includes a free paperback book by one of the participating authors from the mobile bookshop provided by The Hayling Island Bookshop on the day.
