South Coast Crime comes to Portsmouth BookFest 2018 with Pauline Rowson and Peter James

Crime authors Peter James and Pauline RowsonTwo of the south’s most popular crime authors, Peter James and Pauline Rowson, will be discussing crime at Portsmouth BookFest in a scintillating interview being held at the Eldon Building, the University of Portsmouth on 22 February 2018, as part of Portsmouth BookFest 2018.

Pauline Rowson, who will be interviewing Peter, is an established internationally acclaimed crime author of eighteen novels.  Her Inspector Andy Horton novels are set in Portsmouth. There are thirteen in the series featuring the rugged and flawed Portsmouth detective, three in the series featuring Art Marvik, the troubled former Royal Marine Commando now an undercover investigator for the UK's National Intelligence Marine Squad (NIMS) and two standalone thrillers, the award winning, In Cold Daylight and In For the Kill. 

Lethal Waves a DI Andy Horton crime novelHer crime novels, set against the atmospheric backdrop of the ever changing sea, have been translated into several languages and are published in the UK, Commonwealth and the USA.  LETHAL WAVES, the thirteenth in the DI Andy Horton series is released in paperback on 28 February 2018.  Her crime novels have been described as multi-layered, complex, and full of twists and turns.  Pauline lives on Hayling Island and has been involved with Portsmouth BookFest since its inception six years ago and masterminded the popular CSI Portsmouth panel events for six years.

Peter James’ Roy Grace detective novels have sold over 18 million copies worldwide and have repeatedly topped the Sunday Times bestseller charts.  Peter, an established film producer, was educated at Charterhouse then at film school. He has produced numerous films, including 'The Merchant of Venice', starring Al Pacino. He has an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Brighton in recognition of his services to literature and the community; is Patron of Neighbourhood Watch nationwide, Crimestoppers in Sussex, Brighton & Hove Samaritans, and Relate.  

Peter James, Need You DeadPeter has twice been Chair of the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) and has won many literary awards, including the publicly voted ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards People’s Bestseller Dagger and he was shortlisted for the Wellcome Trust Book Prize.  As popular internationally as in the UK, he won the US Barry Award for Best British Crime Novel in 2012.  In 2015, he was voted by WH Smith readers as The Best Crime Author of All Time and in 2016 he was awarded the Crime Writers Association Diamond Dagger Award, an award to mark sustained excellence and significant contributions to crime writing. NEED YOU DEAD is the latest to be published in paperback.

Portsmouth BookFestPortsmouth BookFest is a festival of popular literature organised by Portsmouth Central Library on behalf of Portsmouth City Council. The books are provided by the Hayling Island Bookshop.

The event takes place at 1 Eldon Building, University of Portsmouth between 7pm and 9pm. Tickets cost £7 which includes a £2 discount off the price of a book bought at the event. They can be purchased from 11th January online or in person at any Portsmouth City Council Library.
