Peter James and Pauline Rowson entertain the audience at Portsmouth Bookfest

Peter James in conversation with Pauline RowsonOn 22 February  2018 over ninety people turned out to hear me interview best selling crime author, Peter James at Portsmouth Bookfest.  The event held the audience spellbound as Peter James talked about how he researches and plots his crime novels.

Sadly events like these ceased in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the banning of all social gatherings. I know many people are missing them and I am missing entertaining the lovely audiences.  I am sincerely hoping that we can soon resume these events. Meanwhile take a look back at this exciting event with Peter James and me.

There was a good deal of similarity between the way Peter and I work and we both expressed gratitude to the police for their assistance with research.

Peter James with Pauline Rowson talking about his crime novelsPeter James works very closely with East Sussex police while I work with Hampshire Police.  Peter James said, 'The police are the glue that binds our society together.'

I am very grateful to the police and to libraries for the part they played in changing my life as a child and the important role they provide in giving access to books to those who can't afford them.
