What's on in October

October kicks off with a mini book tour of South Wales Libraries to officially launch the publication in the UK and Commonwealth of the latest in the  DI Horton series, Death Surge.

Death Surge, the tenth in the series is now on sale in the UK and Commonwealth. Published by Severn House Publishers it is available on line, through all UK bookshops and for loan in UK libraries.  American readers will have to wait a little longer before getting another dose of DI Andy Horton.  Death Surge will be published in the USA on 1 January 2014.





On the 2nd and 3rd of October I will be talking about the inspiration behind the DI Horton series, set in the Solent area on the South Coast of England, and discussing how I plot my crime novels and develop the characters, at the following libraries in South Wales:

Then on 14 October I'll once again be appearing on the Julian Clegg Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Solent. As one of  'Julian's People' (those whose lives his programme follows), I get to chat to him and his thousands of listeners every three months.

And on 24 October I'll be interviewed on Express FM between 8pm and 9pm.

Having recently finished writing DI Andy Horton number eleven, I'll be starting work on a new crime novel, will it be DI Andy Horton number twelve or will it be the new crime series I have in mind? 

I'll also be gearing up ready for CSI Portsmouth where crime fiction meets crime fact.  This takes place on 2 November but before then I need to make sure that all the arrangements are in place for a great day's entertainment and as I am moderating both panel events this year I'll also need to prepare my questions to put to the crime authors and experts.  Find out more about CSI Portsmouth and the programme here. Taking part in CSI Portsmouth 2013 are crime authors S. J Bolton, Natasha Cooper, M.R. Hall, Kerry Wilkinson and myself.  Joining us on the panel will be Michael Ellis, Drugs Intelligence Officer, Hampshire Police; Forensic toxicologist Dr Alex Allan, co-founder of Triple A Forensics and consultant with Manlove Forensics; Sergeant Tony Birr of Hampshire Police Marine Unit; Brian Chappell MBE, a former Detective Chief Inspector with the Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard who is now a senior lecturer at the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth; and Hampshire Police Fingerprint bureau and the Dog Support Unit.
