Cowes Week and Inspector Andy Horton has a missing man and murder

Red Funnel Ferry sailing into Cowes Isle of WightCowes Week 29 July to 5 August 2017 is one of the highlights of Britain's summer sailing season when the yachting world descends on the small town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight for a week of festivities.

Inspector Andy Horton is, of course, very familiar with Cowes Week, after all he is a sailor and lives on board his small yacht in Southsea Marina, Portsmouth, just five miles across the busy Solent stretch of water from the Isle of Wight. The marine police unit of Sergeant Elkins and PC Ripley, are also in attendance during the international sailing regatta, helping to police the busy Solent, packed not only with racing yachts, but leisure craft, container and cargo ships, fishing boats, naval vessels and the ferries and hovercraft.

Death Surge a DI Andy Horton crime novel In  Death Surge Horton is called to Cowes during the sailing regatta by Sergeant Cantelli frantic with worry because his nephew Johnnie Onslow has failed to show up to take part in the racing on one of his boss's yachts. What begins as the hunt for a missing man soon becomes the search for a ruthless killer.

Hopefully nothing like that will happen in real life!

I'm also delighted to announce that Death Surge will shortly be available as an unabridged audio book narrated by Gordon Griffin and published by Soundings on 1 September 2017.

Death Surge is available in paperback and as an e book on Amazon Kindle and on Kobo.

Cowes Week has been held in early August every year since 1826, except during the two world wars. Traditionally, Cowes Week takes place during the first week of August although it is sometimes delayed a week  to take into account the tides or, as in 2012, to avoid a clash with the Olympic Games. In 2016, it followed the Americas Cup which took part in the Solent, off Portsmouth, on 22 - 24 July.  Over the years Cowes Week has attracted British and foreign royalty, and many famous faces  - including Inspector Andy Horton.
