DI Andy Horton and Art Marvik country from space

Pauline Rowson's crime novels from spaceCelebrating fifty years of stepping on to the moon's surface this year I thought it apt to upload an image of what Inspector Andy Horton's patch looks like from space! And yes, I know some of my readers will suggest he sends his alpha female nit-picking boss DCI Lorraine Bliss up there. Part of the coastline you can see is also where some of the Art Marvik mystery thriller novels are set, and my two standalone thrillers. You can click on the image to enlarge it.

The image is that of the Isle of Wight seen surrounded by the Solent to the north and the English Channel around it to the east, west and south. Opposite the Isle of Wight on the right is the Gosport peninsula which leads up to Southampton. Southampton is featured in the Art Marvik mystery thriller SILENT RUNNING and Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent are featured in DI Andy Horton, FATAL CATCH and A KILLING COAST

Dead Passage, a DI Andy Horton MysteryTo the right of this, travelling east, is the island of Portsmouth which is joined to the mainland by three roads. Portsmouth is where DI Andy Horton is based. Portsmouth is a port city and naval base. It has a very vibrant waterfront, a narrow harbour entrance and a diverse and very interesting population of some two hundred and fifty thousand.

Horton's investigations also take him to the Isle of Wight, most specifically in BLOOD ON THE SAND, A KILLING COAST, DEATH SURGE and SHROUD OF EVIL, and he also has fleeting visits there in some of the other fourteen novels in the series.

The Isle of Wight is also where undercover investigator and former Royal Marine Commando, Art Marvik lives in a remote cottage in the tranquil unspoilt Newtown Harbour and where my standalone thriller IN FOR THE KILL is set.

Footsteps on the Shore, a DI Andy Horton MysteryTravelling to the right of Portsmouth is Hayling Island, joined to the mainland to the north by one road bridge and to the south by a small passenger ferry. Hayling Island is featured in DI Andy Horton FOOTSTEPS ON THE SHORE and my standalone mystery thriller, IN COLD DAYLIGHT.

Thorney Island is the very small island to the right of Hayling and DI Andy Horton is there following up a lead in FATAL CATCH.

If you travel further along the coast to the right and eastwards you might come across Art Marvik in Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton in the first of the three thriller mysteries SILENT RUNNING.

Art Marvik mystery thrillers by Pauline RowsonIn the opposite direction westwards is the New Forest National Park and the coastal town of Lymington again part of Marvik's country in his undercover mission for the UK's National Marine Intelligence Squad in SILENT RUNNING. The two remaining Marvik novels locations are not seen here, they're Dorset, DANGEROUS CARGO and Eastbourne/Beachy Head in LOST VOYAGE.

Death in the Cove an Inspector Alun Ryga Mystery by Pauline RowsonThen there is my 1950 set historical crime mystery with Inspector Alun Ryga in DEATH IN THE COVE, which will be published on 26 September 2019 and is available for pre-order. His first investigation outside of Scotland Yard takes him further to the west on this space image to the rugged Island of Portland in Dorset.

Hope you've enjoyed the tour from space. Time to come back down to earth. Happy landings.
