An enthusiastic audience greets crime author Pauline Rowson at Yate Library

Pauline Rowson talking about crime writing and her crime novels-Yate LibraryContinuing my theme of looking back at my talks over the years (in the absence of them in 2020 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic), I was delighted to meet such an enthusiastic audience at Yate Library, South Gloucestershire (near Bristol) on Monday 22 September when I talked about the process of writing a crime novel, the inspiration behind the DI Andy Horton series and my other mystery thrillers.

Yate is famous these days as being the birthplace of J. K. Rowling although strictly speaking she was born in Chipping Sodbury Maternity Hospital on the outskirts of Yate.  Once a market town Yate, in the 1960s, became a booming new town with a massive housing development, a large retail shopping area, sports and leisure complex together with public buildings, including the library, which has recently had a major make over and is a very impressive and vibrant building.

Pauline Rowson explaining how she writes her crime novels- Yate Library I was made very welcome at Yate by the lovely library staff and the audience who listened enraptured as I took them through the process of how I plan and plot my crime novels.

Pauline Rowson talking about In Cold Daylight (thriller) Yate LibraryThis was followed by a very lively question and answer session, a book signing and refreshments. My thanks to the library staff for organising the event and to the audience for turning up.

I hope that my talks can resume in 2021.
