Enjoyable, absolutely fascinating was the verdict of the audience at Poole Library

Poole Library Pauline Rowson talking to the audience about her crime novels'Enjoyable,  interesting, lively, and absolutely fascinating' was the verdict of the audience at Poole Central Library when I entertained them with a talk on Wednesday 10 February 2016 on how I write my crime novels.

Events like these were sadly stopped in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the banning of all social gatherings. I know many people are missing them and I am missing entertaining the lovely audiences.  So here I am taking a trip down memory lane, and re-visiting  the talks I have given to lovely audiences.

Poole Library Pauline Rowson with DI Horton Fatal CatchI explained how I plot, research and write my crime novels of which there are fifteen in the DI Andy Horton.

Since this talk took place in addition to fifteen in the Inspector Andy Horton series, there are four in the Marvik mystery thriller series - Marvik is an undercover investigator for the UK's Police Marine Intelligence Squad - and there are two in my 1950s set mystery series featuring Scotland Yard Inspector Ryga who is sent out to investigate baffling crimes in DEATH IN THE HARBOUR (the Isle of Portland, Dorset) and DEATH IN THE HARBOUR ( Newhaven, East Sussex) with number three in the series DEATH IN THE NETS ( Brixham, Devon) to be published in October 2021.

Poole Library, Pauline Rowson explaining how she writes her crime novelsI talked about where I draw my inspiration from, which is usually locations on the South Coast of England, how I develop ideas into plots and how I conduct my research.  The audience were great.

Poole Quayside featured in Art Marvik, Dangerous CargoI was also able beforehand to take a walk along Poole Quay and see where one of my fictional heroes, former Royal Marine Commando, Art Marvik  arrives in his motor cruiser on his second investigation, in DANGEROUS CARGO.

My thanks to all who came and to Poole Library for organizing it.

I am sincerely hoping that my talks can soon resume.  If you would like me to speak to your organisation, company or library please feel free to contact me.
