I'm delighted to say that my books in both ebook format and paperback are now available at libraries. The paperbacks have been available for some time, as have been some of them as audiobooks, but the libraries are now stocking them in ebook format through OverDrive, making it easier for readers to discover and borrow my crime novels through their local library service.
But there's one small catch.
Your library may not have ordered them as ebooks yet.
Library services make their own decisions about which ebooks to add to their collections, so although my ebooks are available for them to purchase, they won't necessarily appear in your library catalogue automatically.
The good news is that readers can ask their library to order them.
And reader requests really can make a difference.
Every library service does things slightly differently, but it is usually quite straightforward.
You may find a link on your library website called something like:
Suggest a Title
Recommend a Title
Suggest a Purchase
Purchase Suggestion
Request an Item
Stock Suggestion
Recommend for Purchase
It may be tucked away under Books & Media, Library Services, Help or the online catalogue.
Some library services require you to log in with your library card before you can make a request.
And if you can't find an online form, don't worry. You can always ask at your local library, telephone them or send an email.
It helps to have the details of the book to hand:
Title:
Author: Pauline Rowson
Publisher: Joffe Books
ISBN: The 13-digit ISBN for the edition you want
Format: Paperback, ebook or audiobook
Publication date:
The ISBN is particularly useful, as it tells the library exactly which book and edition you are requesting.
If you're requesting one of my books, you'll find the relevant details on its book page.
If you borrow ebooks or audiobooks through Libby, you may also be able to suggest titles that your library doesn't currently have.
Search for the book in Libby. If it doesn't appear in your library's collection, look for the Deep Search option. Where this feature is enabled by your library, you may then be able to select Notify Me.
This lets your library know that there is reader interest in the title. If the library subsequently purchases it, you'll be notified and may then be able to borrow or reserve it.
The feature isn't available through every library, so don't worry if you don't see it.
Please ask.
If your local library doesn't have the book you're looking for, whether that is a paperback or ebook a simple request could help get it onto their shelves — or into their digital collection.
And if you do request one of my books, I'd love to hear about it.
Every library copy means another reader has the opportunity to discover DI Andy Horton, Art Marvik or Inspector Ryga — and for an author, that's rather wonderful.
Thank you for supporting my books and for helping them reach new readers.
