Marvik is tasked by the UK Police Marine Intelligence Squad to find out why a man who was supposed to have died fifty-five years ago has washed up on the coast of the Isle of Wight.
He starts with the last place Bradley Pulford, the dead man, was seen, the coastal town of Swanage in Dorset, England when he worked as a fisherman for the Killbeck family. There Marvik meets a hostile reception from the fishing Killbecks and a wall of silence, along with an attempt at his life.
Marvik's investigations in DANGEROUS CARGO take him to the archives of National Service and the Malayan Emergency in 1957. Fast forward and it’s the Dockers strike in Southampton in the Winter of Discontent in 1978 and 1979 that have some meaning in this twisted tail.
Then there’s the present, the body on the beach on the Isle of Wight and another on the Dorset coast. Along with that Marvik has a man who collects fossils on the Dorset coast, a woman who believes she’s about to make it BIG on television, her drug addict brother, and a tale of greed, manipulation and exploitation that stretch far back in time. And a killer who shows no mercy, destroying everyone who gets in his way until he comes up against former Royal Marine Commando, Art Marvik and his former marine colleague Shaun Strathen.
My inspiration for this crime thriller as with many of my crime novels comes from locations. The rugged and beautiful Dorset coast. But Marvik’s investigations also take him to Southampton, London and Eel Pie Island, a quirky island in the River Thames at Twickenham, famous for its history as a 1960s rock and roll hub (hosting The Who, Pink Floyd) and now a haven for artists, boat builders, and houseboat residents, car free and accessible via a footbridge
DANGEROUS CARGO is no. 3 in the Marvik crime thriller series of five.
“Intrigue, plot twists and bodies piling up all to avoid the truth coming out.”
Psst...A word of warning you’ll need to pay attention when reading this one as there are quite a few characters in this twisty novel! Maybe have a pen and pad handy LOL.
If you get through DANGEROUS CARGO then well done; LOST VOYAGE (3), FATAL DEPTHS (4) and LETHAL STORM (5) will be a doddle – except hopefully you won’t guess the outcome until the very end!
